Adding Signatures in Mac OS X

Adding Signatures in Mac OS X

The best way that I know of to capture a signature in Lion is the following:
Open any PDF file (preferably one with some white space) with Lion's default Preview app. Select the "Show the Annotations Toolbar" icon. (furthest Right)

Then select the Signature dropdown (S) and click "Create Signature from FaceTime HD Camera"

A dialog box with a line comes up. Simply write your signature on a piece of paper, line it up and capture.

By default, Preview doesn't let you export your signature but there is a work around. Insert your signature into the document and move it to some White space. Drag the rectangle around it, select copy, then select File > New from Clipboard. Now you have a PDF of your signature. To create a JPEG simply Shift+Command+4, highlight your signature and release and you have a JPEG saved to the desktop. Import into your email program (Sparrow accepts different signatures for different accounts) and you're done.
